5 Chronic Illness Warriors You Should Be Following on Instagram

I love Instagram. It’s a great space to connect with people. I find it especially useful to connect with other people dealing with chronic conditions. Since starting this platform, I have met some amazing people online who are battling all kinds of illnesses. It’s a great space for support and advice.

I’m highlighting five pages that I love. Rest assured these are not the only five accounts I like to follow. There are too many to count! I’ll definitely be talking about more in the future.

But for now, check out these five inspiring Instagram pages.

Peace With Pain

Pame raises awareness for Vulvodynia, a chronic pain condition which affects the Vulva. Honestly, before following this account, I knew very little about the condition. Since then I’ve learned a lot through the illustrations and explanations. The whole page has a cool pink theme and each post is in both English and Spanish.

Drug Free Spoonie

A post shared by Jae (@drugfree.spoonie) on

Jae’s goal is to manage her chronic illnesses “with as little prescription drugs as possible” and advocates for young spoonies. I love her page and learn about different self-care methods. I also think it’s great that on her search for drug-free methods, she still supports other people who are not able to do the same.

Jae also has a blog, so make sure you give it a read.

Actively Autoimmune

Zoe is a physiotherapist and pilates instructor who encourages exercise with invisible illnesses. She shares parts of her medical journey, exercise photos and encouraging quotes. I enjoy following her page because she is open, honest and vulnerable; she inspires me to do the same.

Zoe has a blog too! Go have a look.

Warrior Goddess Musings

Megan is a chronic illness warrior with hEDS, POTS, Fibromyalgia, Celiac Disease and another undiagnosed condition. She gives us an honest view of life with a chronic disease as a young person. All the posts work beautifully together and give a sense of calm when you go through them.

She also has a beautiful blog. Be sure to check it out.

Self Care Cafe

If you follow me on Instagram, you would know how much I love good graphics and illustrations. Self Care Cafe is one of the best. The account is a collection of cute motivational images that remind me of a Nintendo video game. It’s always a good page to check out especially on a flare day.

So those are five Instagram accounts that I love to follow. Once again, there are much more and I will be sure to do another set of lists in the future.
