My Lupus Blisters Won’t Hold Me Back (VIDEO)

“Lupus can take a toll out of you. It can affect you when you least expect it.”

23-year-old Jokiva Bellard has had Lupus (SLE) since she was 17. It started as a skin rash and joint pain but got progressively worse. Now, she deals with more serious symptoms like kidney failure and painful skin lesions.

Jokiva’s openness about her life on social media has inspired many (myself included). It’s led to positive comments from fans, other Lupus sufferers and people who want to learn more. Unfortunately, it’s also led to negative and hurtful comments too.

Despite the obstacles and with over 100,000 followers on Instagram, she uses her platform to advocate for Lupus, self-love and body positivity.
